How Happitech works
PPG Technology
PPG is a non-invasive way to detect volumetric changes in blood in peripheral circulation. Blood absorbs light and each pulse from the heart increases the blood flow in the body and to the fingertips. It is possible to keep track of changes in this pulse by measuring changes in light absorption.
iOS and Android Smartphones
Happitech harnesses Photoplethysmography (PPG) by using just the camera and flash from any iOS and Android smartphone to measure the pulse at the fingertip. Users are guided by voice instructions to place their fingertip on the correct part of the smartphone camera lens for 60-90 seconds during which time the heart rhythm is detected.
AI Algorithms
The PPG waveforms detected are dampened analogues of arterial blood pressure (ABP). These waveforms are analysed and interpreted by Happitech AI algorithms to deliver clinically-validated measurements of Heart Rate, Heart Rate Variation, and Atrial Fibrillation.

Happitech engineers, UX and UI developers and working closely with clinicians from start to finish focus on ease of use and practical workflows. This ensures the Happitech SDK fits perfectly into existing health platforms, apps and clinical pathways as a stand-alone solution or as a feature alongside other tools and applications.
